The complete Bloodborne guide

Overwhelmed by the difficulty of this intense game? Don’t worry, we’re here to help. We will guide you through the mechanics of the blood-filled mayhem for you to succeed in this game. We have tried to gather all the information that you’ll need to get yourself through Yharnam’s infected inhabitants. Without further ado, let’s get right through the complete Bloodborne guide!

Starting Menu

When you’ve opened the game, you’ll be put into the starting menu. From here, you can at first customize your character according to your preference. There are quite a few options – gender, age and appearance from which you’d have to choose. These have no particular effect on your gameplay.

What actually affects your gameplay is the ‘origin’ of your character. You’ll have nine origins to choose from, each having distinguished attributes. These will actively affect your gameplay. This is why you’ll have to choose the ‘origin’ very wisely.

First scene

After you’ve woken up in Iosefka’s clinic, you’ll find a note that will instruct you to see out pale blood to transcend the hunt. This is when you’ll have to go left and walk through the door. Then you must head downstairs where you’ll meet the nether beast. This creature is very tough to kill and this scene is particularly designed to kill you (beginners). If you master the strategy and get to the back while managing to dodge its three attacks (i.e., grab attack, bite attack and the claw attack), you can kill the nether beast within a few attempts.

Central Yharnam

Once you go by the gate and escape Iosefka’s clinic alive, you’ll be put into Central Yharnam. (Take note that if you die in the first scene, you’ll be fast forwarded to Hunter’s dream) Once you reach Central Yharnam, you’ll run into another ferocious enemy. This enemy is, however, smarter and stronger than the nether monster. It has a torch and an axe, making it very difficult to kill. When trying to kill it, try not to get hit by the torch as it will bring you to half health.

When you manage to kill the enemy, you’ll meet with two more sleeping monsters. Once they’re awake, you’ll have a hard time dealing with these two considering the fact that you have no weapons in hand. To kill them, you must pull them to the edge of the bridge and run towards the end of the rails where you’ll find Molotov cocktails. You’ll have to equip the Molotov cocktails and then cautiously throw it towards the enemies. This will burn them to death. Next, you must pull the lever and the ladder will come straight down. Climb onto the ladder to get to the next stage.

The Hunter’s Dream

Once you’ve completed the previous scenes not dying, you’ll be put into the Hunter’s Dream. This is a location where the players will be able to trade and upgrade their characters and the weaponry. This location also enables the player to port to any of the activated lamps in the Bloodborne map.

When you’ve entered the Hunter’s Dream, you’ll find an inanimate doll. To make this doll come alive, you must gain Bloodborne insight which you’ll gain from boss fights and/or in your adventure through the dungeons. If you look to the left of the doll, there is a Bath Messenger. This is a merchant from whom you can trade items. To the right of the Bath Messenger, you will find a staircase.

Upon moving to the staircase, you’ll be met with the first messenger offering you a trick weapon. Choose the trick weapon wisely as this will affect your damage output and how your character performs later in the game. When you’re moving to the top of the staircase, a second messenger will offer you a firearm. After you’ve chosen your firearm, you’ll meet another messenger who will offer you a notebook. This will be helpful for online matches.

When you’ve entered the building, you’ll find Gehrman, a storage space, memory altar and the workshop for upgrading your weaponry.
